Over the last few years, a number of investigations have been conducted to explore the low cost sorbents for the decontamination of toxic materials. Undoubtedly, agricultural waste mass is presently one of the most challenging topics, which has been gaining attention during the past several decades. Wastes are very cheap and easily available material in production of sorbent.
The sonocatalytic activity of nano-sized ZnO powder was studied via the degradation of the Direct Blue 71 azo dye. The nano-sized ZnO powder that was selected was the same as that which was synthesized and characterized in our previous study.
In this study, a combined electro-(Fenton/coagulation/flotation) (EF/EC/El) process was studied via degradation of Disperse Orange 25 (DO25) organic dye as a case study.
Dyes are widely used in various industries most of them are not readily biodegradable and are consisted of number of toxic, mutagenic, and carcinogenic compounds. Therefore, it is essential to remove them from effluent before their discharge to the environment.
Release of textile industries waste especially their dying effluent impose a serious pollution on the environment. Reactive dyes are one of the most used dyes which are recalcitrant to conventional treatment processes. In the performed project, the effectiveness of electrocoagulation process was studied on decolorization.
