The presence of large heavy metal concentrations in soil polluted with chemical weapons causes serious operational restrictions against cultivation of agricultural crops like wheat. To solve this problem, the usage of zeolite has been proposed as one of the most efficient practical approaches.
Biofilm is communities of microorganisms attached to the surface and is able to concentrate metal species within their cell structure. Therefore, the aim of this study was to produce Escherichia coli biofilm on zeolite (clinoptilolite) and evaluate its ability for nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) adsorption from aqueous solutions. A laboratory-scale batch model was used for biodsorption assay.
Environmental impacts and health concerns of BTEX compounds have been pointed in many studies. The agencies responsible for health and environment have delivered standard and guideline for BTEX concentrations. Because of the extensive use in industries and the presence of these compounds in fossil fuels, their emission resources are very divers.
