Chapter 1 Administration
۱-۱ Scope. This standard specifies requirements for the design and construction of high challenge fire walls, fire walls, and fire barrier walls including protection of openings and penetrations.
۱-۲ Purpose. This standard prescribes minimum requirements for me design and construction of high challenge fire walls, fire walls, and fire barrier walls for use in providing safety
to life and protection of property from fire.
۱-۳ Application. The minimum requirements for high challenge fire walls, fire walls, and fire barrier walls apply to walls that are required to separate buildings or subdivide a building to prevent the spread of fire. The minimum fire resistance rating of a wall assembly is outside me scope of this document.
۱-۴ Retroactivity.
۱-۴-۱ The provisions of this standard reflect a consensus of what is necessary to provide an acceptable degree of protection from me hazards addressed in d1is standard at the time the standard was issued.
