۱-۱* Scope. This standard provides a methodology for assessing wildland fire ignition hazards around existing structures, residential developments, and subdivisions and improved property or planned property improvement that will be located in a wildland/urban interface area, and provides minimum requirements for new construction to reduce the potential of structure ignition from wildland fires.
۱-۲ Purpose.
۱-۲-۱* This standard shall be used to assess fuel sources in the structure ignition zone for their potential to ignite structures and to identify possible mitigation measures to reduce the possibility of structure ignition.
۱-۲-۲ The standard provides minimum standards for design, construction, and landscaping for structures in the wildland/ urban interface.
۱-۳ Application.
۱-۳-۱ The standard shall apply to all existing structures, residential developments, and subdivisions and improved property or planned property improvement that will be located in a wildland/urban interface area, including commercial, ranch and farm structures, manufactured homes, and structures in recreational vehicle parks.
