Chapter 1 Administration
۱-۱* Scope. This standard identifies the minimum job performance requirements (JPRs) for fire inspectors and plan examiners.
۱-۲ Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to specify the minimum job performance requirements for serving as a fire inspector and plan examiner.
۱-۲-۱ This standard shall define three levels of progression for fire inspectors and two levels of progression for plan examiners.
۱-۲-۲* This standard shall not address management responsibility.
۱-۲-۳ It is not the intent of this standard to restrict any jurisdiction from exceeding or combining these minimum requirements.
۱-۳ General.
۱-۳-۱* The Fire Inspector I or Plan Examiner I candidate shall provide evidence of knowledge of characteristics and behavior of fire, fire prevention principles, written and oral communications, public relations, and basic mathematics.
۱-۳-۲ The job performance requirements for each level of progression shall be completed in accordance with recognized practices and procedures or as defined by law or by the authority having jurisdiction.
