Chapter 1 Administration
۱-۱* Scope.
۱-۱-۱ General. The Code addresses those construction, protection, and occupancy features necessary to minimize danger to life and property.
۱-۱-۲ Code Title. The provisions of this document shall constitute and be known as NFPA 5000, hereinafter referred to as “this Code” or “the Code.”
۱-۲* Purpose. The purpose of the Code is to provide minimum design regulations to safeguard life, health, property, and public welfare and to minimize injuries by regulating and controlling the permitting, design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location, and maintenance of all buildings and structures within the jurisdiction and ce1·tain equipment specifically regulated herein.
۱-۳* Application.
۱-۳-۱ Buildings and Structures. The prov1s1ons of the Code shall apply to the construction, alteration, repair, equipment, use and occupancy, maintenance, relocation, and demolition of every building or structure, or any appurtenances connected or attached to such buildings or structures within the jurisdiction.
۱-۳-۲ References to Requirements of Other Codes or Standards. Where the requirements of a referenced code or standard differ from the requirements of this Code, the requirements of this Code shall govern.
