Chapter 1 Administration
۱-۱ Scope.
۱-۱-۱ This standard applies to aerosol fire-extinguishing systems consisting of one or more generators.
۱-۱-۲ This standard contains the requirements for the design, installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of aerosol fire-extinguishing systems for total flooding applications.
۱-۲ Purpose. This standard is prepared for the use by and guidance of those charged with purchasing, designing, installing, testing, inspecting, approving, listing, operating, and maintaining fxed aerosol fre extinguishing systems, so that such equipment will function as intended throughout its life.
۱-۳ Retroactivity.
۱-۳-۱ The provisions of this document are considered necessary to provide a reasonable level of protection from loss of life and property from fire. They reflect situations and the state of the art at the time the standard was issued.
۱-۳-۲ Unless otherwise noted, it is not intended that the provisions of this document be applied to facilities, equipment, structures, or installations that were existing or approved for construction or installation prior to the effective date of this document.
